Mushrooms can save the world

by Ted on December 10, 2009

There are so many super intelligent ideas out there.

I have just listened to Paul Stamets on TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) March 2008 giving his talk on how important mushrooms are to the health of the earth and all living things.  I suggest that you watch it at

or use the TED app on the iPhone and other smart phones.

Saving the old growth forest is a national imperative.

I continue to be amazed at the reach Stamets achieved with his “Six Ways …” theme. I first saw it a couple of years back and it got me started on a new hobby. I joined the Vancouver Mycological Society, started collected stuff and knowledge. Have not got much going yet – stroke kinda interrupted things but hope to get back to fungus fun this summer if renos ever end.
BTW: Stamets published a book more or less on the same theme: “Mycelium Running.”
The other day my ND (Naturopathic Doctor) remarked that he had seen Stamets give the talk here in Vancouver. (I was showing off some nice Shaggy Manes that I had collected enroute to his office from the dyke along River Road. (Shaggy Manes = choice edible nearly impossible to mis-identify.)

Cheers,
